Bubble Blowing Dolphins at Seaworld

Aspen | Other Animals,Other Sites,Videos | Tuesday, 24 February 2009

As a dog, I really don’t like water much…maybe because the only time that I get a chance to be in water it’s for a bath.  I get baths in the kitchen sink because I’m so small, and the only bubbles that I’ve ever seen are the ones that come from the soap lather when I get my bath.

Then my owner and I watched this cute video when we went to visit a site called dolphinbubbles.com, it’s actually beautiful and really peaceful to watch. It shows playful, graceful dolphins blowing rings of bubbles, we can’t figure out how they do it, no matter how much we watch.  Then they watch the rings, play with them, try to swim through them, and more…you HAVE to see the dolphin bubbles for yourself to believe it. Take a look:

My owners have been to Seaworld in Orlando, Florida. They spent a whole day there with the children that are now grown up, so we’re wondering if maybe they didn’t have the bubble blowing dolphins then. You’re going to want to stop by and visit the dolphinbubbles.com blog/site, because there are other videos and pictures there. You can “leave a bubble” yourself if you like a post…have you been to Seaworld? Let us know in a comment, here or at the Dolphin Bubbles site.

Traveling With Your Dog

Aspen | Travels,Yorkie Travel | Sunday, 22 February 2009

Traveling with a dog can be challenging, that is why some people like to put their dogs in kennels when they go away.  I used to like to travel with my owners when I was younger. They have a dog carrier that they can put me in to carry me around, a lot like a big pocket book, which is something that is pretty popular in “the City”.

One of the big challenges is finding hotels that will let you have your pet with you when you travel.  We thought we’d take a look and see what we could find in New York, so went to HotelsCombined.com, then we went down and “clicked” on the “New York” link in the box. A long list of hotels in New York appeared, and under the name of each, there is a link that says “Hotel Features”. When you click on it there is a list of features, including “pets allowed”, if the words have a line through them, then pets are not allowed.

For example, we went to the very first hotel listed, Excelsior Hotel New York, and pets were not allowed, but we saw a few that did allow pets. You can sort the list by price, but be careful of the less expensive ones, make sure they have good reviews. I am not as good at traveling as my friend at Travels with Bob who talks about staying at The Comfort Inn in Little Rock, Arkansas, but it’s good to know that there’s a place like hotelscombined.com to search for hotels that will let you bring your pets.

Maybe I’ll have some more travel tips for you soon, you can also “click” on the “Yorkie Travel” or “Travels” category and see what comes up!

Stump and the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show

Aspen | Other Sites,Westminster Kennel Club | Tuesday, 17 February 2009

We just watched the Westminster Kennel Club dog show last week, and even though a Yorkie didn’t win, we loved “Stump”, with his stumpy little tail that he seemed to have a hard time holding up until he proudly “wagged” it as he paraded in front of the audience.  What a pleasant surprise to see him win! I think it was a surprise to the owner, too, from some of the interviews we saw him on.

Stump is the oldest dog to win the dog show, 10 years old…hey, I’m almost 10, so that’s not old, right?  He also suffered some health challenges… (more…)

Pets and the Peanut Butter Recall

Humans aren’t the only ones affected by the peanut butter recall that is going on right now because Salmonella has been found in peanut butter products who use peanut butter supplied by a particular peanut butter manufacturer, the Peanut Corporation of America. If you want to find out whether your pet food is safe, there is a searchable list (more…)

Economic Crunch and Pets

Aspen | Pet Shopping | Tuesday, 03 February 2009

Just a quick little post to let you know that the economic crunch that you humans are facing can affect us pets, too.  You might be thinking of ways to save on pet food, or pet toys.  You might be looking to shop at a discount pet supplies store instead of shopping at a “regular” store so you can save money.

Please be sure to look closely for quality when you are discount shopping for your pets.
