Since I’m a dog, not a human, I can try to understand how special it is to find someone from your past, and get all excited about it, but don’t completely understand. I guess it would be fun to find my brother and father, but I know where they are.
My owner has had friends from college, from former churches she’s attended, from high school, and even from grammer school track her down on the internet. I don’t know how they do it, and she doesn’t do a lot of searching for people, but thought she would try to find and old animal-loving buddy that she would see each summer when on vacation when she was growing up. I can’t tell you her name, because she said that she wants to keep that part private, but I can tell you that she looked for her on MyLife. She was an inspiration to my owner because not many people like every kind of animal that you can think of, and this friend did.
So she visited the site, signed in, and searched, and her friend’s name did come up in the location that she expected. So did the name of her husband alongside and two other people that may be her children. You can sign up and get started, but to really take advantage of the site to the fullest, it costs 1/2 what it used to, only $3 per month…enough time to give it a good test run. There are other inexpensive pricing packages, too. You can even find out who has been searching for you.
Just for fun, we put in my yorkie daddy’s name, and the state that he lives in, and nothing came up, so I guess this is a site just for people. Oh well, I hope you have fun clicking the live link above and giving it a try!
Almost everyone who cares about animals knows about Greyhounds and dog racing. It’s sad what many dogs go through, and we’ll talk a bit about that, but there are good people doing good things to help, too, so we’ll also talk about that.
We have people in our Town who adopt rescued Greyhounds. I met a couple of very nice Greyhounds at my last appointment to the vet. I’m just a tiny little dog, and these are bigger than me, very fine featured dogs with very strong hind-quarter muscles which probably is why they are fast, and used for racing. They are so gentle that it’s sad to think that they are used this way. Let’s get the sad video over with, then we can move on to the good things people are doing:
Greyhounds, or dogs that look very much like them have been found as part of the artwork on Egyptian tombs over 2000 BC. They were developed for hunting in more recent history. They make wonderful, gentle, loving house pets.
If you think you’d like to learn more about how to help Greyhounds, or would like to adopt on, there are many websites that help, Adopt a Greyhoud is just one that will lead to other helpful sites.
I have been kind of fussy about taking rides in the car lately, my owner’s car is getting old and not what it used to be, but then I saw the picture below, and wow, looks like it would be every dog and dog-owner’s dream to drive a car like this. I would have to promise to be good and clean, and I’m just a little dog, so I know she wouldn’t mind taking me for a ride….I hope?
But first we have to get a car like this. The way to do that, and anyone has a chance at this (maybe I should be keeping this a secret to keep down the competition?), is to enter the Camaro Sweepstakes offered by Charter. They were giving away a laptop every day for a while, now they are giving away a whole car!
My owner said she used to have a Camaro over 30 years ago, but I’m sure it was NOTHING like the 2010 Camaro 2SS being offered in this sweepstakes….and sales tax, usually something that you have to pay when you win a big item like this…is included as part of the prize! The contest ends November 26th, so you will want to enter before then…we will be right after we finish this post.
Other things that you can get from Charter are:
A $100 gift card when you buy 3 Charter services
A $50 gift card for 2 services
A $25 gift card when you buy 1 Charter service.
These people just seem to give, give, and give some more, they have been running some of the best sweepstakes around for a long time. You can keep track of the latest Charter news with Charter on Facebook AND Charter on Twitter
If you’ve read my blog, you know that my owner was there when I was born. She saw the whole thing! It was a beautiful site in many ways, but if you are squeamish, it may be hard to watch. She was looking to see if she could find any videos of Yorkies being born. She found a couple, but none that looked as nice and interesting as this video of a Maltese puppy being born. What a good mommy she/he had.
My owner watched me being born, I was the first of the litter delivered, but my Mom walked around while she was delivering…it was a warm day, and she even walked outside. In the post before this one you’ll find a link to pictures of me back then, and there are some on this blog.
I have been putting together a place for you to look at my pictures, and also look at some nice Yorkshire Terrier art. We had fun putting together “Yorkie Pictures and Artwork” and hope you’ll stop by for a visit.
There are pictures of me all through my life, and we had fun matching artwork with the pictures. You’ll find other Yorkie things there, too, so we hope you’ll stop by for a visit and let us know what you think.
