Feeding Hummingbirds

Aspen | Birds,Other Animals,Wild Animals | Thursday, 11 June 2009

Once again, my owner is feeding birds. I don’t mind too much, the fun thing about it is that sometimes squirrels will come and eat the seeds from one of the bird feeders, and I can bark at them…one of my favorite things to do.

It’s a very cloudy, rainy day today, but there’s a bright red feeder outside full of sweet liquid that the hummingbirds are coming too. I’m not sure that it’s a glass hummingbird feeder, it’s one that we’ve had for a very long time and will need to be replaced soon. All of the bird feeders that we are using…except the hummingbird feeder, are from birdfeeders.com. My owner really likes them a LOT, and loves to get their newsletter by email because it has a lot of educational information about birds. That’s how she knew that the hummingbirds had migrated into our area, they had a map in one of the newsletters telling us all the states where they hummingbirds had returned for the summer. There is an entire section about hummingbirds at the site, and a lot about other birds, too.

I’m glad she feeds me well, or I might get a little jealous of all the attention the animals outside get.

Click here is another post we did months ago with a video of me opening a box we received with a birdfeeders.com feeder in it.

We Got a New Bird Feeder…or Two?

Aspen | Birds,Wild Animals | Monday, 08 December 2008

This blog is supposed to be about other “Critters” besides just me, so today lets talk about the birds my owner loves to feed.  She LOVES to feed the birds, and so a few days ago, a very special package with Bird Feeders in it came from birdfeeders.com, my owner has another bird feeder she bought from them…well, you’ll see all about that in the video we put together…we’re not real pros at doing videos, but we had fun doing this anyway.

I helped a lot with putting together this very special pair of bird feeders, called “Sip and Seed” feeders, one can be used for water, one for seeds, and they both hang on one hanger…you’ll understand after you look at the video. I even tasted some of the seeds that fell on the floor while we were filling the feeders…I think I’ll stick with my treats and dog food.

But the birds are very happy, and the bird feeders are going to make my owner happy…she has been a backyard bird feeder for years, and loves to watch all the sparrows, cardinals, chickadees, woodpeckers, and more that come to eat. The picture is of a very special visitor we had last Spring, a Rose Breasted Grosbeak. She loves the email newsletter that comes from the company that we got the feeder from because they are fun to read, not just a lot of ads…there is a lot of nice information about birds. Okay, here’s our attempt at a video, thanks for stopping by!
