Snack Time Yorkie Pictures

admin | Dog Food, Dog Food Recipes, Yorkie Pictures | Friday, 20 June 2008

Hi people, it’s me, Aspen the Yorkie, with pictures of myself waiting for my snack. I LOVE snack time, it’s my favorite time of the day!

Here’s a (blurry!) picture of me waiting while my snack is being broken into tiny pieces, I know, you’re wondering why they have to break my snacks in tiny pieces. I guess I’m kind of strange, but I don’t like chewing or gnawing on things. I’ve been given every kind of chew thing you can think of, and I don’t like them. What things do you dogs out there like to chew on?

And finally, here’s me eating, I’m so happy!! I love my snacks.

My owner may try making some snacks sometime, I hope I like them!

What Yorkie’s Like to Eat

admin | About Yorkies, Dog Food, Dog Food Recipes, Food Recalls | Sunday, 18 May 2008

Hi everybody! It’s a new week, and I want to talk about food. I LOVE food, even food that isn’t good for me. I don’t care, as long as it tastes good…but sometimes even though it tastes good, later it makes me sick. So I’ve been listening to my owners talk to each other about what they are feeding me, and here’s some of the things that I’ve heard them say:

  • Don’t give Aspen cured or overly seasoned meats. Yep, that’s right, those are the ones that taste so good, but always make me sick. And some cured meats have chemical additives in them than aren’t even good for humans, so why feed them to me?
  • Don’t change Aspen’s dry food to a new food too quickly. Just recently they changed my dry food to another brand, and they gradually added a little bit to my old dry food, then a little bit more, then a little bit more, each time them fed me, so I gradually got used to the food.
  • Do consider food if Yorkies or dogs like me throw up a lot (I know, yuk, sorry about that), but only if you have changed foods in the past couple weeks. If we get sick a lot, we should be taken to the vet right away.
  • Do occasionally let us have a little bite of food when we beg for food at the table…well, actually I’m just throwing that one in. That’s a really bad habit, but the big guy owner here who said that would never happen if he ever had a dog sneaks treats from his plate to me all the time. My most favorite is chicken!!!

Those are my tips for today, if I think of more, I’ll let you know! Have a great day and a tail waggin’ week!

Pet Dog and Cat Food and Snack Recipes

admin | Cat Food Recipes, Dog Food, Dog Food Recipes | Friday, 28 March 2008

It’s a rainy day here in NJ, not fun to be outside, and there are no squirrels to bark at or chase right now. So the next best thing is getting my owner to put another post on my blog.

Do any of you cook for your dogs? I don’t know how to cook, but I sure do love eating. My FAVORITE food is chicken, whenever they have chicken for dinner here, I get a little bit. Beef gives me a tummy ache, and it’s not good to give yorkies seasoned meats, but chicken, or chicken livers, yum!

My owner has a really nice eBook of dog food and snack recipes, 130 of them!! And it only costs $1.25.

She has a cat recipe eBook for the same price, 100 recipes. We have a black cat that hangs around our yard ALL the time, I don’t think she has a home, and think that if I wasn’t here, my owner would feel sorry enough for it to take it in, but she found out that it is a ferrel cat (we’re not sure how to spell ferrel?) and that a cat-loving neighbor feeds it. So that made her feel much better.

Hope you have a happy day…oh, there’s a squirrel, gotta run!

I just wanted to let you know that two more pages were added to the “pages” section of the blog today (see the list of pages to the right)….one about aging pets, and another with the start of a list of food recalls, food warnings, and foods that are not dangerous for you, but may be dangerous for me.

Hope you had a great weekend, my family was out a lot at church and visiting family, I missed them.

My Yorkie Mom and Dad

admin | Birth, Dog Food, Yorkie Pictures, Yorkie Puppies | Sunday, 02 March 2008

This really should have been the first post to this blog. The picture to the left is a picture of my curly haired Dad, Winston, and my dainty Mom, Munchkin. The picture to the right is a picture of me and one of my brothers or sisters when we were first born, I can’t even remember which one. All that I know is that my owners tell me I was born first, then there were 3 more puppies.

There was trouble with a couple of my puppy brothers and sisters. A friend who raised Labrador Retrievers was there helping, they held the struggling little newborns, no bigger than hot dogs, and warmed them with their hands, and rubbed them on the sides to stimulate them. One died almost right away, the other lived a day or so longer. They kept putting him to Mom to nurse, and then fed him by hand because he wouldn’t take to the nipple, and unfortunately he only lived a little over a day.

My brother and I made up for it, though, by being loving and cute, and keeping everyone busy taking care of us.

Oh, by the way, with all the food recalls and things, you might want to take a look at the store below, they have natural, organic foods at good prices. Whatever you do, make careful food choices! Thanks.
