Is There a Rescue Dog in Your Future?

Aspen | Animal Organizations,Animal Rescue,Other Sites | Wednesday, 08 October 2008

“Rescue Dogs” are dogs that for one reason or another don’t have a home, or are being mistreated where they are, and are rescued from the situation, and fostered by kind people until a nice person comes along and takes them home with them as a companion.

Before I moved in here, my owner was looking for a dog that needed a home, and used a popular site called Petfinder.  They have dogs from all over the United States that need homes.  We live in NJ, to find dogs that need homes in our state you go to this link.  You can go to the home page from there and see if you can search for homeless pets in your area.

In most towns, there is an animal shelter, we have a very active one in our town.  That may be the best place to start your search.  It’s sad to think of how many dogs have to spend their lives living in small enclosures or cages, isn’t it?

Before you decide to own a dog, or any pet, make sure you have given it a lot of thought, and planned well.  Too many animals end up in shelters because people find out that taking care of a pet is a lot more work than they thought.
