Stump and the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show
We just watched the Westminster Kennel Club dog show last week, and even though a Yorkie didn’t win, we loved “Stump”, with his stumpy little tail that he seemed to have a hard time holding up until he proudly “wagged” it as he paraded in front of the audience. What a pleasant surprise to see him win! I think it was a surprise to the owner, too, from some of the interviews we saw him on.
Stump is the oldest dog to win the dog show, 10 years old…hey, I’m almost 10, so that’s not old, right? He also suffered some health challenges…about 5 years ago that almost lead to his death…but aren’t we all happy that he got good care and was able to be a winner! His “fancy” name is Ch Clussexx Three D Grinchy Glee (phew, I’m glad my name is just “Aspen”) and he is a Sussex Spaniel.
His owner shares that he is just a nice friendly house pet, and that it was a bit of a last minute decision to register him for the show last week, so he was completely surprised by the win! You can see “Stump” and more about the annual event at the Westminster Kennel Club website.

Me and Panther (my Yorkie) are always a little bummed when our favorite terrier doesn’t win, but we try to be good sports about it
Mom and I watch Westminster too – every year. Sometimes I dream of being a fancy dog and winning a blue ribbon. Then see the rat – I mean Austin – and I’m glad I’m just Bob.
Glad Stump won. We older dogs need to show the youngsters we’re still the boss.
